What Customers Say About Creative Zen Stone Plus 4 GB MP3 Player with Built-in Speaker and Clip (Black):

This player has been to 3 continents, suffered from rain, falls and heat. I am very happy with sound quality and versatility. It works just like a shuffle which is what I wanted. What I am really impressed with is the durability. And most grueling, it just survived a full machine wash (pant pocket) and dry and still works perfectly.

I paid a very low price because the product was being retired. I bought this last year for an extended trip. Wow, it work flawlessly and each time I used it I got about 12 hours of listening, yes I reduced my files. I am still enjoying the unit. It has its flaws, but so do the most expensive players.

They replied to my E-mail in about 2 hours, so no complaints with customer service. I just purches two Zen stone MP3 players for my kids. However, I just opened the box to charge them up and the first thing I see is the warning "HANDLING THIS PRODUCT MAY EXPOSE YOU TO CHEMICALS KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE CANCER AND BIRTH DEFECTS OR OTHER REPRODUCTIVE HARM". UPDATE.In fairness to Creative, I contacted them about their warning and here is their response. Please retain all the previous correspondence when replying to this email.Best Regards ,***Got to thank California for this law. What the.

Any time lead is used in a product, California law (where our warehouse is located) requires we place a warning label on them because of the possibility of traces being on the outside as well. I have one of my own and for my limited use the player is fine. Dear Customer,Thank you for contacting Creative Labs. The cables have a small amount of lead in them. Ok, so you can argue that everything causes cancer these days, but really do you think I'm going to wrap these up and give them to my kids now. I don't think so. There is the possibility of very small traces being on the cable, however, I can assure you all of our cables are washed after production to ensure your safety.

Makes you wonder how many items there are out there that don't require this disclaimer.

By holding down the forward button, you can scan within a track, but it just jumps forward about 5 seconds for every second that you hold the button down. My iPod doesn't allow me to transfer audio books downloaded from my library's website due to digital rights management. It has extremely limited bookmarking. And in the event that you mentally remember the track and time where you last left off, it may take you minutes to get back there. It's a pause button. If you turn it off, you can continue where you last left off.

At least my VCR speeds up when I hold down the forward button. Finally, if you intend to listen to this when attached to your car stereo, be very careful about the buttons. This is why I bought this additional MP3 player.I like the price and form. But for audio books, this is terrible. My old VCR has more advanced searching features than this. But if you switch to another track and then return to the audio book you lose your place. If you connect the Zen Stone to recharge, you also lose your place. I accidentally switched it to play through it's built-in speaker instead of the car speaker by pressing the pause button on top of the MP3 player.

why should it also switch to the built-in speaker.UPDATE: If you accidentally leave this MP3 player in the car during a cold night, you will lose all battery power.

The Stone really appealed because of its price, looks, and features. takes way too long. Well, as soon as I switch over to Some Hearts, Flat On the Floor is cut off because Wasted interrupts it and starts playing. The clock doesn't work. So let's say I want to go from my Carnival Ride folder to my Some Hearts folder. I couldn't use the recovery tool that I downloaded from Creative either because when I connected the Stone, it wouldn't show up on the computer. I started using the Stone right away and everything was going well.

I laughed at myself for worrying. THE VERY NEXT DAY, my FULLY CHARGED Stone WOULD NOT TURN ON. The first mp3 player I bought was by Sony and it has worked pretty well, but since I didn't care for the design or the menu, I thought I'd buy a different brand this time around. O_o Before my Stone died, I had synced it twice and both times this happened.I think I've made my point. Whenever I try to turn it off, I end up turning up the volume super loud instead. When you reach the end of a list, it doesn't go back up to the first one.You can't choose individual songs in a folder.Changing the mode it's playing (in one folder, on repeat, shuffle, etc). I have to press the middle button, right towards options, down to play mode, and then up and down. You can't browse music and listen to music at the same time. THE STONE IS A BAD BUY.

(I bought the 2GB plus with speaker).Other reasons not to buy the Stone:It is ridiculously hard to turn on and off and you have to press for way too long. So I spent a lot of time reading reviews and despite the number of people that said theirs randomly stopped working, I still ending up ordering a Stone because of the price.WHAT A MISTAKE. When you connect the stone to your computer, it asks if you want to sync the time to your computer time and I said yes. MY STONE WAS DEAD WITHIN TWO DAYS OF USE.So, there goes fifty bucks. The middle button isn't big enough or something. Like an hour later, I checked the clock on the Stone and it reset. So don't buy it.
